Is stereotyping a person by the way they dress wrong? In this short story the author explains that when he transferred to a new college that he was labeled a certain way because of the way he dressed. How can a student that is going to college to get a degree are labeled a certain way. Why does clothing have such an impact on a first impression? Does an impression make that big of a difference? My opinion is that impressions do make a difference. I feel that is a person is going to college that they should start dressing in a professional way so they can show that they are serious about getting an education. In a real life scenario if a person dressed in a suit for an interview would looks more presentable than the person dressed in baggy pants and a long tee shirt. Who would you higher?

“The Bias of Language, the Bias of Pictures” By Neil Postman and Steve Powers
The authors Postman and Powers try to explain that language and pictures can tell many stories, it just depends on the listener. They explain that every picture can tell many stories because not everyone will see the same picture. Everyone can make up something and for the most part it will be different than the other person. The authors also go on to explain that when you are watching television that not everything is as it seems. Most news programs are usually broadcasted after the story already took place, therefore the story is now only a hearsay story because the viewer may not know the whole story because they were not there. The authors also explain that language and pictures can tell a certain type of story just the way they are written, painted, and read. I do agree with what the authors are trying to say.

The Force: Volkswagen Commerical
This volkswagen commercial is great because it shows a child acting like his favorite villian. This video shows a child dressed as Darth Vadar from Star Wars. The child dressed as Darth Vadar goes around and tries to turn on certain appliances and he also tries to get the dog and the baby doll to so something, however nothing happens. The father comes home in the Volkswagen and the little boy goes outside and he tries to start the car and all of a sudden the car start because the father started the car with the remote start button. The little boy is so shocked. The representation of the gender roles is accurate because the woman is the mother and the man is the father. The interaction of the gender are traditonal because they are acting like a family. The representation of the mother and father is accurate for the 21st century because many mothers are home with the children while the father is at work. The Darth Vadar character is still known and many parents have wacthed it and many children have seen the toys that are from the Star Wars collection.

Baby Video By Justin Beiber and Ludicrous
Music is a relase for most people. This video is the interaction of a teenage boy and girl that have what looks to be a crush on one another. The teenage girl seems to be shy and seems un sure on whether she wants to show that she likes him. The interaction between the girl and boy seems to be traditional, and they seem to be on a date. The meeting in the bowling alley may give the perception that all teenagers are able to meet in places like this. The merger of the singing styles indicate that music is always changing.

Answer to the question from "The Miseducation of Hip-Hop -Discrimination in Education by Jamilah Evelyn
When sterotypes are brought on by a way a person dresses it is wrong, because someone may choose to wear something that may make them look a certain way. In this essay a student feels stereotyped because he wears clothes that represent a hip-hop culture but he does not live that lifestyle. It is not fair for people to be stereotyped based on an apperance alone but it is happening far too often, for example police officers have to wear a uniform but this does not mean that every police officer is going to react the same way in a situation. When the professor in the essay says that some of the students wont be back for the next sememster because the student is not applying themselves is not based on a clothing choose but a lifestyle choose and this too is a stereotype.

The Answer to a Question Based on "The Bias of Language, The Bias of Pictures" by Neil Postman and Steve Powers
Week III
Blog III
Postman and Powers claim the differences between stationary pictures and moving pictures are based on the viewer, because people may interpret different things or ideas. Language is also going to differ from person to person because of a way something may be worded. This is important to the larger point of the essay because the authors try to explain that everyone has an opinion and every opinion is shown through a person’s writing, or speaking. The writer’s main claim about today’s newscast is that opinions are never directly the same, for example the author’s state that “no two people use exactly the same words to describe an event (“The Bias of Language, The Bias of Pictures” by Neil Postman and Steve Powers). I do agree with the authors points.

"The Force" Volkswagen Commercial
This video opens with a child impersonating Darth Vader. The child tries to use the force numerous times to move serveral objects or to get the objects to start working. The final try is the volkswagen vehicle and the father pushes the button and the child is completely shocked that the car started. The gender representations are both male and female because of the mother and father. The roles of the parents are traditional interactions because the mother stays at home and the father goes to work. The roles that are represented in this video are from twenty first century family. The Darth Vader character is still known because the movers were very popular. I believe that the Darth Vadar character is so well know because it has many movies an memorabilia for the movie.
